A long time ago, I was taught by men much wiser than me that a true teacher never realizes where his influence ends, and that real leaders are merchants of hope. Never was this more evident this week than when my nine-year-old daughter wrote the following essay expressing her love for the example that Brett Favre has set for all of us.
Let me introduce the world to Kailey, and I hope you enjoy her work.
Listen, I'm just a nine-year-old writing this blog.
It's not as easy as it seems.
As you might know Brett Favre is the greatest quarterback ever. But that's just my opinion.
You might have a different opinion.
His birthday is October 10th, which is a coincidence because it's my sister's birthday too.
As you might know, in 2003, he broke his right thumb and still played against the Rams. And still won by two touchdowns.
In my opinion that's amazing. Impressive was the word that just kept going over and over in my head.
Brett Favre retired in 2008. He came out of retirement and was traded to the New York Jets.
My family loves football. My dad has met Brett Favre face to face. So whenever Brett plays we will either be at the game or home on the sofa watching on TV.
My mom, by the way, thinks he's smokin' hot.
How did the Brett Favre story change my life?
The Brett Favre story has changed my life by how he played through the toughest parts. And that really impressed me and made me want to write this blog.
How do I apply Brett Favre's story? Everything through my life I play through it, and I'm impressed how he has never missed a game and still played with his right thumb broken.
Thanks to him I will never quit.
