Wow. College Football Talk Blasted Hawaii in a recent post. Here it is, unedited:
Last season Hawaii went undefeated before it got throttled by Georgia, 41-10 in the Sugar Bowl.
This season Hawaii's throttling at the hands of an SEC foe will come early. The Warriors will be lucky to lose by only 31 in their August 30 opener at Florida.
Everyone knows that coach June Jones, quarterback Colt Brennan and most of last year's offense are gone, but I don't know if casual fans realize just how desperate the situation at Hawaii is right now.
Quarterback Tyler Graunke, who spent three seasons as Colt Brennan's heir apparent, has had academic issues, and new coach Greg McMackin said this week, "We've just moved on. If somebody's not here, we just move on."
That means Hawaii has no idea who its quarterback is, with Inoke Funaki, Greg Alexander and Brent Rausch all in the mix. McMackin told the Honolulu Star Bulletin he expects to pick a starter two weeks into camp.
Whoever that starter is, he's going to have an awfully rough go of it against Florida, and for much of the early portion of the season. Hawaii was a great story when it won 12 games last year, but the Warriors are a long shot to win even six in 2008.
